Truly outrageous 80's cartoons!!!

As I told you in this previous post, in the last months I've been working in a new OOAK doll series based on some of my favorite 80's cartoons. I decided to start with Jem and The Holograms, (pictured above), because I couldn't resist the 'all-pink-makeup-hair-look' challenge! ;-)
I painted her using my basic Himawari doll face, and made the wig entirely from scratch, with tons of patience and love to recreate her famous big-hair!
Her body's still a WIP (I'm such a perfectionist!), but hope to have it finished soon too.
In the mean time, I'm also working on more faces from other 80's cartoon series, so stay tuned for new updates on them!

Where are you going dressed like that, Asuka ?

To say that Asuka has learned to love pink it's an understatement... She's just totally crazy about the pink palette these days, and the more hot and vibrant the hue, the better! :-)
And now that Halloween's here, she just got carried away with it! ^___^

I bought the Barbie that came with this dress, well, just for the dress! (Though I loved that Barbie too!). The first moment I saw it, thought that it would be great for Asuka's shiny and smooth hot pink wig!
I think she likes the combo (or costume?), though she's a real old fashioned rocker girl on the inside... But what can I say? Halloween's here and she surely can put a lot candies inside her dolly purse!!! Hehe ;-) ;-)

Street style doll!

As Ellowyne promised, here are the first couple of pics from the 'street style' photo shoot she made in the city of Madrid. It sure was a lot of fun! :-)

The place is a Madrid landmark, called "Puerta de Alcalá" ("Alcalá Door"), a 'mandatory' sight for taking photos, as it's always busy with visitors (and locals!) with cameras and posing for their album pics of Madrid memories... Of course, Ellowyne couldn't resist to take hers too! ;-)

Ellowyne is such an interesting girl... You can never be completely sure about what's on her mind...

Hot Colors For Spring Girls!

I'm all about hot pink and turquoise these days... Well, I'm all about 80's fashion color palettes, indeed, and Liv dolls look great with them! Especially, fantasy color haired ones! :-)

All my girls are also in a hot colors 'fever' for the spring time... And cute little monster girls are no exception! Hehe ;-)

Both girls are wearing Barbie Fashionistas dresses.

...Psssst... A little useful tip: tiny sewing pins can make these dresses to adapt and fit to Monster High dolls tiny waists... No sewing is required and you can reuse the dresses in their original size again for other dolls! ;-)

She dreams of being a mangaka...

Nanako always feels so inspired when she reads her favorite mangas.
For instance, after a nice Parakiss and Nana reading, she starts daydreaming and grabs her color pencils to sketch all the ideas that come to the fantasy land that lives in her mind...

Even though she's inspired by the great mangakas she admires, Nana-chan loves creating her own characters and making their profile sheets....

Nanako sketches all the new ideas that come to her mind... First, she creates the characters, and then she writes down their stories...

These sketches and drawings Nanako's making are from the series "The Modern Girls", a story about a bunch of friends who reunite after years of being living their own adventures separately...

♥ I made her a set of miniature mangas (the pages inside are printed too!), some mini sketches (based on my own original characters and drawings!), and all the necessary pencils (made out of toothpicks!), for her to give free rein to her creativity and fantasy. ♥ ^___^

*She's wearing the eyes I handcrafted especially for her. ;-)

Just a relaxed playful morning...

A quiet Saturday morning watching my favorite anime and playing dress up with these lovely little dolls... It certainly ended being an effective recipe to forget about the world's whirlwind and enjoy some nice moments feeling like a child again... After all, I make dolls because of my love for playing with them, since always... And I have to remember that idea once in a while when I find myself 'trapped' in a frenzy activity of work, even if it is working on dolls... For me, the most important thing to be able to create them is simply to enjoy them!!!

Little Adda brought all her handmade clothes to lend them to her Petite Blythe sisters, as they don't have any others than their original stock ones... :-)

They sure had fun searching through Adda's hangers and trying all the outfits and accessories they liked...

Since I made all these clothes for Adda, they were a little 'bulky' for the Petites, but I could fix that with the aid of some small pins... ;-)

In the mean time I managed to draft and cut some tiny patterns for the lovely Petites: Ciocco, Teela, Lime and Dalia...
Can't wait to sew them all together soon! ;-)

Golden Eyes for a Golden Girl

She was trying a new look for this occasion, because she was playing the guest role in "The Child of the Apple Tree", a new story written by her... Remember I told you she wants to be a great Mangaka? ;-)

Hello Kitty Cupcake Fantasy!!!

Yesterday, we made strawberry Hello Kitty cupcakes... all in hot pink!!
Adda, my enthusiast PukiPuki Pong, sure had a great time assisting us in the cooking process, but most of all, eating them! :-)

At first, she was very playful and tender with her little friend Kewpie... But I can't remember at what point she threw him away to go straight for the freshly baked hot pink cupcakes! LOL

So, here's how the story goes:

The process of creation of a doll

This is a little sneak peek at some of my works in project.
I'm working in several doll projects at the same time right now and, among them, there's Hibis, a new big-headed/big-eyed girl who's still in the first sculpting stages as you can see in the upper pic.

Looking through Hasbro product catalog found more Blythe Littlest Pet Shop.
They're all SO cute! ♥
And here is another one that I've only found at Amazon.
I've also read that Hasbro may be planning to even sell some Neo Blythes in the near future if these little ones do well... Let's keep our fingers crossed! ;-)

My PukiPuki Adda loves Fine Art, and if it features her fave comedy character, Sponge Bob, she loves it even more! ;-)
So, I took her to the Nickelodeon Bob Art Expo that's being held in Madrid to enjoy this unusual event full of culture and good humor.

Of course, we both wanted to share the most interesting and fun images from our visit:

After visiting the expo, we went to the Book Fair of Madrid, and we found that Bob was signing tons of books along with an unexpected guest:

WIP - Himawari's Leg

This week I've been working on some old hand sculpted pieces that weren't completely finished, like Himawari's body, my most beloved original ball jointed doll... She was the first, the one that started it all, the one from whom I 'borrowed' the name for my line of hand sculpted art dolls, and the one with the most special meaning to me... So, though I've been working on her for some years now, she's still a work in progress, as I've been very picky with the details in and about her... Such is the fate of the favorite and most loved... I want her to be absolutely perfect! :-)

Here are a few pics of one of her legs, ready for molds and the subsequent engeneering work on the articulations, which I want to be as smooth and fully functional as real, in total harmony with the body lines... And that's still a lot of work to do...

I have opted for a more realistic approach on her design, but also keeping the lines as smooth as possible... Some sort of a mix between common asian BJD dolls style fusioned with classic sculpture...

My Momokos go to their first concert!

My two Momokos, Lila and Monica have lived a night they'll never forget: they went to their first Rock concert...
(I leave it to you to figure out who was the Rock Star...).
They sang, shouted, danced, jumped and there was a moment when they were just about to swoon...
They were so excited!!!

Allow me to introduce to you another one of my creations: Violet!
She's a good friend of Linda, and part of The Modern Girls, a set of original hand sculpted ball jointed art dolls and characters that I've been working on for some years now in different media.
As you can see she has a thing for drama, but not the kind that you're already thinking about, but the one that makes the stage trumble with her movements... Yes, she's a passionate dancer and she dreams of being as great as her admired icon of all times... Isadora Duncan!
Though Violet is a Modern Girl of our times, she identifies herself with the spirit of the early 20th century flappers and the Art Deco era... ♥

She's temporarily 'residing' in an Obitsu body, until her original ball jointed one is completely finished... ;-)

Lately, I've found myself making a bunch of clothes and accessories for this joyful little girl... I guess it's her ever-laughing expression what always persuades me about dedicating most of my 'dolly time' to her... :-D

Handpainted dress

I made this dress for Asuka using a blank fabric that I previously handpainted with colorful flowery motifs. The little buttons are cut from pieces of plastic I found around the house, like water bottles caps, (a nice idea from my hubby to recycle!)... So It's totally handmade from scratch!

I think that after a while of being left aside in favor of other newest dollies (i.e. my PukiPuki Adda), she deserved something special... ;-)
